Purpose

The purpose of the Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor Pageant is to provide the contestants and pageant staff an opportunity for developing leadership skills, theatrical training, responsibility, and confidence. It also provides the university a way to showcase its students and their talents to the student body, family members, and community.

Pageant History

The current Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor Pageant was formerly titled the Miss Bluebonnet Pageant. Begun in the 1950’s, the Miss Bluebonnet Pageant was produced and sponsored by the yearbook staff. In the late 1960’s, the pageant came to be called the Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor College Pageant. For a brief period of time, the pageant was a part of the Miss Texas Pageant system. When Mary Hardin-Baylor achieved university status, the pageant name was changed to the Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor Pageant. Currently pageant is strictly a campus activity and not associated with any other pageant system.
